Simba Energy Inc. – Pursuing Oil and Gas Opportunities in West Africa

Overview

Simba Energy Inc. (TSXV:SMB) (Frankfurt:GDA), is an oil and gas exploration company based in Vancouver, Canada. The Company is the first junior resource company to pursue onshore oil and gas opportunities in the West African region since the 1970's. Simba's main project is a 90%-owned hydrocarbon property in the Robert-Bassa Basin of Liberia. An oil seep survey was undertaken on the project in January 2010. In December 2010, the Company applied for a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) on a property in Mali's Taoudeni Basin.

Simba's main project, the Robert-Bassa Sedimentary Basin, consists of a 1,366 km2 area on a Hydrocarbon Reconnaissance Licence, situated in the Roberts-Bassa Basin of Liberia. The coastal strip of land the project encompasses the entire onshore extent of the Roberts-Bassa Basin. It is next to offshore permits held by companies such as Chevron and Africa Petroleum. The Basin itself is connected laterally and down-dip with the West African-Atlantic continental margin.

Before Simba's current program, exploration on the site had not taken place since 1980 by Katana Resources. Due to civil unrest in the area, Katana was forced to abandon the extensive oil seeps that had been discovered at the site. However, in January 2010, the Company undertook an extensive oil seep survey in both the “Marshall City area” and “airport area” of the property. Multiple oil seeps were found in 9 different localities. Simba considers the area to be one continuous oil seep, and believes that the present hydrocarbons denote light sweet crude. The Company wishes to undertake a seismic survey program, and is applying for a Production Sharing Contract towards that end.
